BOD: A Beloved Iconic Character Returns

BOD is a charming and distinctive children’s series that invites young audiences into a gentle, imaginative world filled with curiosity, play, and quiet humour. With its simple storytelling and iconic musical score, the series celebrates everyday moments through a lens of creativity and play.

Originally created and illustrated by husband-and-wife team Michael and Joanne Cole for their own children, Bod first gained recognition when its stories were read aloud on BBC’s Play School, leading to the development of the television series. Launched 1975, the show quickly became a hit, later achieving cult status and earning a reputation as a rare and nostalgic classic of British children’s television.

Each episode follows Bod as he moves through his day in a colourful town, encountering familiar friends including Aunt Flo, PC Copper, Frank the Postman, Farmer Barleymow and Farmer Mo, alongside Alberto Frog and his Amazing Animal Band. Through gentle storytelling, music, and playful, often surreal scenarios, the series encourages mindfulness, friendliness, and a sense of fun, brought to life through warm narration and distinctive musical character themes.

Now, Bod is being thoughtfully reimagined for a new generation. In partnership with the Michael Cole Estate, Terrific Television is leading a bold revival of the brand - developing a brand-new 2D animated series that honours the original’s charm while introducing fresh stories, new characters, and a contemporary visual identity. With a new slate of short-form episodes, this rebrand positions Bod to reconnect with existing fans while captivating today’s young audiences. Larkshead is excited to partner with Terrific Television on another children’s television brand, as they currently also represent Terrific Television’s new Monster Makes programme.
